Thank you to The Steve Bernard Foundation

I would like to say a big thank you to the people at The Steve Bernard Foundation for all the support they have given me over the last 18 months. I am very grateful for everything they’ve done for me. When I went back to Boccia, I had to borrow a set of balls because I didn’t have my own. This made it very hard to improve as I couldn’t use the same balls every week. One of my friends suggested that I should apply to The Steve Bernard Foundation for funding for my own set of balls. I decided to apply and about a month later I had my own set. They arrived just in time for training that day. I was really excited.

In January earlier this year, I played my first competition in Guildford. This was a hard day but a great experience. During the day, it became apparent that I could have done with some more harder balls. After the competition, I spent the next month trying to improve my game without them. It just wasn’t happening, so at the end of February I decided to apply to the foundation again. I honestly thought they would probably say no, but it’s worth a shot. To my amazement I had a phone call one evening to tell me they were again going to buy me the Boccia balls I needed. I was over the moon. I had only asked for two harder balls, but they offered to buy me 4. I was so happy for the rest of that evening.

The Steve Bernard Foundation is a great organisation that was set up in the memory of Steve Bernard. It is dedicated to helping various sports projects. To find out more about the foundation, please visit www.stevebernardfoundation.com.

Thank you once again to The Steve Bernard Foundation. Your support has meant a lot to me.
